How to Adjust Your Paddle Back Clip-On Earrings

How to Adjust Your Paddle Back Clip-On Earrings

Paddle back clips use a simple tension spring. You can easily customize the tightness for a comfortable, non-slip fit in just a few seconds—no tools required!

Step 1: Open the Clip Fully
Preparation

Open the paddle back clip completely so you can easily access the metal arm and base hinge.

Step 2: Adjust the Tension
Customizing the Fit
  • If the clip is TOO LOOSE (slips off): Hold the earring base firmly. Using your thumb, gently press the lower metal arm inward / forward toward the earring front.

  • If the clip is TOO TIGHT (pinches): Gently pull or push the lower metal arm outward / backward away from the earring front.

  • Tip: Apply gentle pressure in small increments—a little bend goes a long way!

Step 3: Remove the Paddle Arm (Optional)
Method B: Deep Adjustment (Removing the Paddle)
  • Detach the paddle: Gently squeeze the two side prongs of the hinge together to pop the paddle arm off the base.

  • Adjust the center tab: Locate the small metal tension tab in the center of the base.

    • Press it down slightly to increase spring tension (tighter fit).

    • Lift it up slightly to reduce spring tension (looser fit).

  • Reattach: Align the side pins of the paddle arm back into the hinge holes and snap it into place.

Step 4: Test on Your Ear
Comfort Check

Put the earring on and check the fit. It should hold securely against your earlobe without causing any throbbing or discomfort.

Step 5: Fine-Tune or Add Comfort Cushions
Final Touch

Repeat Step 2 if you need a tighter or looser grip. For extra all-day comfort, slide a soft silicone cushion pad over the paddle back.
